Lacie Thunderbolt Drive Not Mounting

broken image

LaCie 250GB-400 firewire hard drive has not been able to mount, after upgrading to OSX 10.4.x.
I have tried to resolve the problem with Tech Tools Pro 4.5.1 (the latest version).
Tech Tools show the drive is there, but is unable to confirm that there is a problem.
While the Disk Utility says there is a 'Invalid B-Tree node size and it needs to be repaired, Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit.'
But when I click Repair Disk, it says '1 HFS volume checked: 1 volume could not be repaired because of an error'
I have upgraded the firmware from LaCie, and followed the Troubleshooting tips and it is still not mounting.

Hello there OPXS,

I've got a LaCie RAID tower (TB2) plugged into a StarTech TB3 - TB2 adaptor, on my Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 TH mobo, running Windows 10. Sometimes, when I reboot, my drives don't mount, though they are there in the Intel Thunderbolt tray tool. Unplugging and plugging back in doesn't help. I have to reboot, and then they'll usually re-appear. The Lacie drive is not mounting, may be because the Finder application is not discovering and displaying the drive. You can try to relaunch the finder and see if the drive is mounted or not. The LaCie drive can be connected to the Mac using the USB or the Firewire port. When the drive is not mounting you can change the port and check. While the Disk Utility. Drive 0 which is my C drive 2,3,4 and 5 are all Removable - no media and a CD ROM And that's it I thought I would try unplugging and then plugging back in (Lacie) - the PC made some nice glugging sounds - that's all I am going to try unplugging and rebooting without Lacie and then connect and see what happens. A: Ignore this message since the drive remounts on the desktop despite the pop-up. LaCie drives conserve power by spinning down when you set your computer to sleep mode. When the computer awakes from sleep mode, the drive may not have enough time to spin up, causing the pop-up to appear.

It sounds like you are unable to see your Thundrbolt external hard drive when you connect it to either Mac OS X 10.9.5 or 10.9.4. I would recommened the other steps in the following article you havent performed:

  • Make sure all Thunderbolt devices are turned on and all cables are connected. If any Thunderbolt device requires a power cord, make sure it's plugged in.
  • Make sure you connect Thunderbolt devices with Thunderbolt cables, and not Mini DisplayPort cables. A Thunderbolt cable has a Thunderbolt icon on the connector.
  • Make sure you installed any software that came with the device. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software.
  • If the device is in a chain of devices, each connected to another with only one connected directly to the Thunderbolt port on your Mac, make sure that all the devices other than the one connected directly to your Mac have their power cords. (And if the device connected directly to your Mac requires a power cord, it should have one, too.) If a Mini DisplayPort device is part of the chain, make sure it's at the end and is connected with a Mini DisplayPort cable. If the Thunderbolt device still doesn't work, try plugging the device directly into your computer.
  • Open System Information, then click Thunderbolt. If the device appears but does not work, the problem might be with the device. Review the device's documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
  • If the device still doesn't work, try quitting and restarting any apps that use the device, or choose Apple menu > Restart.

If these suggestions don't work, see the documentation that came with the device for troubleshooting tips, or contact the manufacturer for help. 5tb external hard drive.
